Also comes with a Conn 2 mouthpiece. How to Identify an Elkhart 8D by Randy Harrison A Conn 8D with a six digit serial number and no letter prefix is not necessarily an Elkhart 8D. If you have been looking for an all-original Elkhart, this is probably the best deal out there on one in such nice condition. Comes with the original Conn hard case which is in amazing condition also. Teeny weeny dings on the bell and a small area of lacquer wear on the inside of the bell near the edge. There is some lacquer wear near the hand grip and mostly up inside of the bell. Cosmetically, I see one faint line on the bell taper due to the removal of a dent. :) Besides, this Elkhart plays phenomenally, so I know that the valves are still good. Don't ask what the "numbers" are because I don't have the equipment for that kind of scientific testing. Speaking of the valves, the horn has WONDERFUL compression. I recently cleaned it by hand, and the valves all work PERFECTLY, although I do not know the last time that it had a professional cleaning. This vintage instrument has been well-maintained over the years by its owner, a professional Horn player. Of course the overall range has great consistency of tone, and did I mention the BIG SOUND?!? Oh man, if you need a horn that will cut through anything. This is one terrific horn! It has an ENORMOUS sound to die for! Brilliant overtones in the high register with excellent, rock-solid pitch.

Pro Horn player and Horn teacher is selling a 1962 Conn 8D Elkhart!!! This is a one-owner horn! The 900,000 series is highly sought after, and you'll see why with this one! It is in ALL-ORIGINAL CONDITION! 8D stamped on leadpipe/ Elkhart engraving on bell.
